Gerhart Holzinger 

Dr. Gerhart Holzinger, born on June 12th, 1947 in Gmunden, Upper Austria; attended school in Gmunden, graduated in 1966 from the Bundesgymnasium in Gmunden; voluntary military service from 1966 to 1967; student at the Faculty of Law at the University of Salzburg; doctorate in law (Dr.iur.) in 1972; university assistant at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law, University of Salzburg, from 1973 to 1975 (o.Univ.Prof. Dr. Kurt Ringhofer); occupation at the Constitutional Service of the Federal Chancellery from 1975 to 1995, head of the Constitutional Service from 1984 onwards, appointed head of the department (“Sektionschef”) in 1992; lecturer at the Vienna University of Economics and Business from 1984 to 2004, habilitation at the University of Graz in 1997, lecturer at the University of Graz since 1998, awarded title of University Professor in 2002; member of the executive committee of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) from 1989 to 1998; president of the Austrian Commission of Jurists from 2000 to 2008; president of the Austrian Administrative Society (“Österreichische Verwaltungswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft”) from 1997 to 2009, member of the board ever since; chairman of the Human Rights Commission at the Ministry of Interior from 1999 to 2003; president of the Viennese Legal Society (“Wiener Juristische Gesellschaft”) since 2013; chairman at the Conference of Constitutional Courts from 2011 to 2014; executive function for legal entities: chairman of the university council of the University of Graz; member of the board at Walter Haslinger Private Foundation; member of the Constitutional Court from 1995 to 2017; repeatedly elected permanent reporter; president of the Constitutional Court of Austria from May 1st, 2008 to December 31st, 2017.
