Christoph Herbst, Member of the Constitutional Court 

Dr. Christoph Herbst, born on June 8th, 1960 in Vienna; attended school in Vienna, graduated from the Schottengymnasium der Benediktiner in 1978; doctorate of law (Dr.iur.) at the University of Vienna in 1983, postgraduate program Master of Business Law – M.B.L. at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland in 1997; assistant at the Institute of Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Vienna from 1982 to 1985 (o.Univ.-Prof. DDr. Günther Winkler); academic assistant at the Constitutional Court from 1985 to 1992; practical work at the district administrative authority (“Bezirksverwaltungsbehörde”) Linz-Land Upper Austria from January to April 1988; civil service exam (“Verwaltungsdienstprüfung”) in 1990; candidate lawyer from 1992 on (“Schönherr Barfuß Torggler & Partner”); lecturer at the University of Vienna from 1990 to 1998, Faculty of Law (Constitutional and Administrative Law), and at the Faculty of Social Sciences (Introduction to Constitutional and Administrative Law); lecturer at the Vienna University of Technology (TU) (General Constitutional and Administrative Law); chairman of the board of the Flughafen Wien AG from January to August 2011.

Executive function for legal entities: Herbst Kinsky Rechtsanwälte GmbH (solicitor’s office); chairman of private foundations (“ABG Privatstiftung” [until May 22nd, 2021]; “PN-Privatstiftung” [until June 30th, 2021]; “WN-Privatstiftung” [until June 30th, 2021]); EBG MedAustron Ltd. [until August 18th, 2021].

Member of the Constitutional Court since 2011; repeatedly elected Judge-Rapporteur; nominated for constitutional judge by the Federal Council.
