Johannes Schnizer, Member of the Constitutional Court 

Dr. Johannes Schnizer, born September 14th, 1959 in Graz; attended school in Graz, graduated in 1977 from the BG/ BRG Kirchengasse; doctorate in law (Dr.iur.) at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg in 1981; academic aide, then contract assistant at the Institute for Roman Law, Legal Dogma History, and General Civil Law Dogmatics (“Institut für Römisches Recht, Juristische Dogmengeschichte und Allgemeine Privatrechtsdogmatik”) at the University of Salzburg (Univ.-Prof. DDr. Theo Mayer-Maly) from 1978 to 1982; lecturer at the University of Padova from 1981 to 1983; academic assistant at the Constitutional Court from 1982 to 1992; constitutional reporter of the Social Cemocratic Parliamentary Group (assigned according to Art. 30 Abs. 5 B-VG civil servant of the parliamentary group) from 1992 to 2006; Head of Cabinet of the Federal Chancellor from 2007 to 2008; civil servant of the Parlamentsdirektion (parliamentary directorate), responsible for legal counseling of the compensation fund (“Entschädigungsfonds”) of the Austrian Republic in 2009; member of the Federal Electoral Board from 1994 to 2008; member of the Austrian Convention from 2003 to 2005.

Member of the Constitutional Court since 2010; repeatedly elected Judge-Rapporteur; nominated for constitutional judge by the Federal Government.
