Markus ACHATZ

Markus Achatz, Member of the Constitutional Court 

Dr. Markus Achatz, born on April 21st, 1960 in Graz; attended school in Zell am See and Graz, graduated from the Bundesrealgymnasium Graz Keplerstraße in 1978; doctorate in law (Dr.iur.) at the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz in 1982; judicial practice at the District and Regional Court Graz (“Bezirks- und Landesgericht Graz”) from 1982 to 1983; university assistant at the Department of Fiscal Law at the University of Graz (Univ.- Prof.DDr. Hans Georg Ruppe) from 1983 to 1992; habilitation in Fiscal Law at the University of Graz in 1992; training to become a tax consultant in Linz in 1992, accountant since 1996; professor at the Johannes Kepler University Linz since 1996, Head of the Institute of Administrative Law and Administrative Education from 2000 to 2009, Head of the Department of Corporate Finance Law, Tax Law and Administrative Education at the Johannes Kepler University from 2009 to September 2013, Head of the Graduate Programme European Tax Law at the Johannes Kepler University since 2006; member of the Academic Senate of the Johannes Kepler University Linz from 2003 to 2009, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Johannes Kepler University Linz from 2009 to 2011, alternate member of the Academic Senate of the Johannes Kepler University since 2011; member of the tax reform commission (“Steuerreformkommission”) at the Ministry of Interior from 2011 to 2012.

Executive functions for legal entities (except registered associations): managing partner at the trust company LeitnerLeitner OG, also business executive of LeitnerLeitner GmbH Auditing and Accounting, executive of LeitnerLeitner Salzburg GmbH; head of the private non-profit foundation Kaiserschild, the HANMAN private foundation, and the Wolfgang Kaufmann private foundation.

Member of the Constitutional Court since 2013, repeatedly elected Judge-Rapporteur, nominated for constitutional judge by the National Council.
