Werner SUPPAN

Werner Suppan, born on 12 January 1963 in Klagenfurt; attended school in Klagenfurt, graduated from academic secondary school at Erstes Bundesgymnasium Klagenfurt/Völkermarkterring (natural science branch) in 1981; military service in Vienna 1981/82; studied at the University of Vienna, obtained his Master’s degree in law in 1987; legal clerkship 1987/88; from 1988 trainee lawyer (law firm Dr. Michael Graff, Vienna); 1991 and 1992 bar exam (taken in two parts at that time); 1993 lawyer (partner); own law firm from 1994; 2001 to 2010 member of the district government of Wien-Ottakring; from the end of 2005 Mag. Werner Suppan Rechtsanwalts-GmbH; 2006 substitute member of the Vienna Electoral Authority: since 2007 regular lectures on association and media law, since 2012 on political parties law; from 2007 law partnership (Suppan & Spiegl Rechtsanwälte GmbH); 2008 and 2013 to 2017 substitute member of the Federal Electoral Authority at the Federal Ministry of the Interior; 2011 to 2016 member of the Vienna Social Housing Commission; from 2016 Suppan/Spiegl/Zeller Rechtsanwalts OG.
Executive functions for legal entities: Member of the Supervisory Board of Facultas Verlags- und Buchhandels AG, Gemeinnützige Bau- Wohn- und Siedlungsgenossenschaft „Heim“ reg. Genossenschaft mbH, Wiener Zeitung GmbH and Zeitung Digitale Publikationen GmbH.
Substitute member of the Constitutional Court since 2017. Nominated by the Federal Council.
